Hello,

I recently downloaded DeskScape and I am using Dreams.  But what I need to know is: Is it normal for my CPU's to run 36 to 49% and my memory to average around 57% when I am on the Internet.  I have not notiice my computer running any slower but I do not want to harm it or cause it to work harder and therefore have a shorter life span.

Thanks

You need to let people know what the specifications of your computer are (CPU, Ram, Display card, etc.) and the Operating System you are using.

For example, Vista and/or Windows 7 will ALWAYS take 50%+ of your RAM in order to cache frequently used programs, thus speeding up your day to day operating usage.

That depends on the amount of RAM you have. The less you have, the more limits are put in place per program. I have 4 GB of RAM, and I barely reach 50% now, besides when running FL Studio. If your CPU runs 36% by default, and has an increase of 13% when using DS, that suggests you aren't using a pretty new computer. That's why we need statistics, to know for sure. The lifespan of your computer will not likely decrease that much, however, the older the computer, the more it will. But I wouldn't worry about that, since most computers have a lifespan longer than the time it takes until it gets replaced by something newer.

It depends on your system specs more than anything else. Here's what I am using on Windows 7 64bit, Intel Quad core Q9550 with 8gigs of ram, with a dream running. Very low CPU usage in my opinion.

It also depends on how the dream was encoded. If encoded at a low bit rate it should use low CPU.

Try my Another Earth Dream II. It was encoded at an extremly low bit rate so it should use lower CPU for you.

Thanks everyone... I understand.  I think that maybe the problem

Windows Vista Home Premuim

AMD Thlon (tm) 64x2 Dual Care

Processor 4400+ 2.30 GHZ

Memory (RAM) 2.00 GB  ??? that might be my big problem (huh?)

OS 32bit

What level of cpu usage do you see with the Vintage dream that is included with Deskscapes 3?

remember, ANY CPU cycles you dont use get wasted!

you cant "roll them over"....
